PART 2: [Coming Soon]

This comic reads right to left!

So let's get the explanation for what's going on here done first and foremost so on subsequent comics you can just enjoy! The back story goes as such~

Rei and Vi had had a conversation, where Rei began to realize she was developing feelings for him, however, she didn't know if she was reacting a certain way because of Vi's flirtatious nature, or if they were genuine. In a previous comic: ( fav.me/d67qp9y ) Vi had kissed her to help her figure out what she was feeling. Having made a promise that he would listen to her when the time came that she figured out their feelings, they parted ways for the night.

Rei however then had her shadow event in Chapter 8. Before it occurred, Rei found out that Vi was dating her best friend at the time, Chihaya. Filled with negative emotion, she tried to bury it, wanting to be the perfect friend and support them wholeheartedly. But her heart was growing darker in her jealousy and pain. She was appalled that Chihaya would date him when she was still figuring out her feelings for Vi, as irrational as it was. Her shadow took advantage of this, and destroyed the 'perfect friend and girl' image Rei had been trying to build up. Her shadow went and destroyed her friendships with mean, hateful words, and even ruined her relationship with her parents and brother.

Through her shadow, she came to terms with her negative feelings and stopped denying them, and was able to admit that she really loved Vi, and through this was able to accept that if dating Chihaya was what he wanted, then she shouldn't stop him, since she had no right. However, by the time Rei was able to defeat her shadow, her shadow had already done damage. Chihaya had left, and Rei was left with the guilt that knowing that since those feelings were truly a part of her, that she was partly to blame for ruining her friendships.

While her shadow had possessed her, a pivotal conversation occurred where Shadow!Rei had forced blame onto Vivien for beginning dating Chihaya while he knew that Rei struggled to figure out her feelings for him. She had thrown her drink on him, and pulled off, thus breaking, the important diamond bracelet Chihaya had given her for her birthday. However, unexpectedly, Rei had seen through the door in the Shadow Realm that Vi had left her a note, apologizing, which she'd never expected.

Once back to her regular self, her shadow defeated, she felt remorse and guilt that Vi had felt the need to apologize, when she knew it wasn't his fault, that there was no blame for what happened.

Because of the negative feelings and guilt, Rei had never given herself the chance or opportunity to tell him how she really felt, and gave up on it once back in the real world. She receded from school life as much as possible, taking the time to work on her relationship with her family first and foremost, her family being more important to her at the time.

During the time she was gone, though, she believed her feelings for him to have vanished, and remembered her memories with him fondly, letting the time they spent together help her grow and mature.

However, now that she's returned to being active in the fight against shadows, she met up with Vi, and had to come to terms with the fact that she needed to forgive herself for what happened. This comic series is essentially the confession she'd never given herself a chance to say to him, and fulfills the promise he'd made to her. With the words she'd regretted never being able to tell him said and in the air, she has a weight that was keeping her down lifted from her, and she can finally continue forward properly, and is just as thankful to Vi now as she ever was, and is able to finally tell him that she's happy for him, having found out he had someone he loves and cherishes. It's more than Rei could ever hope for, for Vi, and wishes him all the best. Because no matter her feelings for him, he was important to her, a cherished friend she could never replace, and would always wish him the happiest life.
